Only 7 short days stand between me and an opportunity I have been thinking about for years and working on for months. I have to tell you...I am a nervous wreck ya'll. Like seriously, my anxiety is out of control. It's like a 2 year old kid in the Fisher Price store where all the toys are made of chocolate. MA-NI-A-CAL! And despite running every day I am still just a tad on edge. So, I figured I would take some time, give you updates and just chat it up.
I realized just a few days ago that I hadn't really been
keeping everyone up to date with the other things going on in my life...aside
from my Hay House obsession. You will be glad to know that I have another
obsession and that is running. YAAAAY! Well, not just running living a more
healthy life. In a previous post, I talked about my affiliation with BGR!
Atlanta. I talked about how moving it was to see those Black women running 26.2
miles. *gasp* even typing that number impresses me. Well, I was so moved by
what I saw that I decided, I too, want to run real far. As such, I have decided
that for my 30th birthday, I am going to run a half-marathon. Yep, 13.1
glorious miles to commemorate my crossing over the threshold into grown and
sexy land. I am a little nervous but not nearly as nervous as I probably should
be. I mean the longest I have ever run is about 6 miles. But what the hey, nothing
ventured, nothing gained. Anyhoo, what makes this little adventure so exciting is that not only is partner going
to join me, but I found out that one of my very best friends (the one that this
post is about) is going to be running a full marathon around that same time. I
am seriously considering going to D.C to run with her. How cool would that be? I
think it would be cool with a cape (SUPER cool). lol
I'm going to blog about that...
Since I am not
working it's so important that I be more consistent with what I am doing so I
will be posting twice a week from now on. Wednesday will be the day that I
document my workout, weight loss and marathon training, then Sunday I will do
my long posts on whatever issue I feel is relevant. I also have some guest
posters coming down the pipe. So yea...I
am getting all organized and professional.
My 12-week half marathon training begins on Monday. So soon. I
know! The program says that it will gradually get me ready to run for roughly
2.5 hours lol. So, in keeping with that I going to call the Wednesday blogs
"far far away." I chose that name because last year this time, I
could barely run a half mile and now I am about to run 13....so I am definitely
far far away from where I was and far far away from where I want to go. Catch-y
I know.
The other thing I need to say is...
Thanks so much for everyone who has been keeping up with the #30daythankyou. I heard last week that people were doing it all over the country and someone even thought it was Oprah's idea! I loved to hear that. I have really enjoyed doing it these last 25 days...and what is so cool is that almost every time I thank someone they seem so happy and surprised. I love letting the people who I love know how much they mean to me. Life is truly too short not to. Also, shout out to all of my fireworks who donated to the LUNGevity 5K, that I am running on Saturday. This is my first 5K and to do this for lung cancer means the world to me. Thanks to all those who have reached out to help. I have so much to say about this run and lung cancer in general but I will reserve that for Sunday's post.
Until then...keep shining
